Harry’s Men’s Shaving Cream

Harry’s Men’s Shaving Cream - I’ve used this shaving cream pretty much exclusively. And it’s lasted me two years shaving my head, on average, once a week! If you are like me and you use your clippers to trim down your fuzz before shaving, i’m pretty confident yours can last you a long time as well!! A little goes a long way with this shaving cream. Make sure you get a nice, but wet lather, if your just starting out, and the razor should glide. As always, don’t rush! I haven’t tried the shave gel, but I found a shave cream and shave gel combo for a pretty great price! I’m picking up a pair myself and I’ll write a review of the gel soon.

British Barbers Association - Post Shave Balm

British Barbers Association - This was my first experience with anything other than your traditional aftershave. I tried a bit at the barbershop around the corner, and I immediately loved the silky feel of it. It seems a little greasy at first, but you have to rub this one into your scalp (or face, or wherever…). It was very soothing and immediately reduced the little irritation on my neck that I usually get after shaving. Maybe the best part of the BBA post shave balm is that it “contains dragon’s blood (Sangre de drago) for nourishment and protection!”, Who would have thought to put dragon’s blood in shave balm?….the English (where this is made) of course!!

Every Man Jack - Face Lotion and Post Shave

Every Man Jack Face Lotion and Post Shave (Fragrance free formula) - a good, non-greasy post shave lotion that you can get much easier that the other products on this list so far. That is to say that its available at a lot of retail / pharmaceutical stores (i.e. Target and Walgreens). This is another organic/natural product. The product states “Our products give you exceptional performance using only naturally derived ingredients. No parabens, no phthalates, no dyes, no gluten, no GMO’s, and never tested on animals.” It’s also “Made in the us from domestic and imported ingredients and components.”

Baxter of California Shave Tonic

My most recent purchase is now my favorite! Although I do love and rotate through my other aftershaves on this list, this one has the most refreshing scent and comes in the form of a handy spray bottle, and feels great on my skin!! Although not organic as far as I can tell (it has a few more ingredients as compared to Every Man Jack and Barberry Coast), it contains “Menthol / Rosemary / Eucalyptus / Camphor / Spearmint / Aloe / Vitamin E, D, A” I’m thinking the ingredient list on the back just has a ll the fancy names for the previous items. This one is also “Made in the USA.”

Barberry Coast Shave Co.  Bay Rum Aftershave No. 28

So like every shaving newbie out there looking for greatest aftershave, I naturally turned to google. One of the few aftershaves I kept coming across was Barberry Coast Bay Rum Aftershave. This was about as organic an aftershave as I could find, and the ingredients on the bottle seem to support as well… though I’m not sure about the glycerin:/ This one definitely has a distinct smell (no surprise there given the name) although it really is refreshing and feel great on the skin, and does a great job soothing the irritated spots that I get. The song scent lessens after a minute or two, and you get used to it. This is a made in the USA product that “Also includes: Masculinity, Courage, Good Taste and Valor” - yeah, seriously!
